Portal é um "FPS" original em 3D, no qual você deve avançar pelas salas utilizando a "ASHPD" ou "Arma de Portais", capaz de abrir uma entrada e uma saída em qualquer superfície plana. Essa versão flash traz o mesmo conceito, mas em fases 2D em 3° pessoa. Não há muitos detalhes na história, mas você está sendo testado em um laboratório, sendo que cada sala é um teste diferente e o objetivo é sempre chegar na porta de saída para acessar a próxima fase. É preciso planejar bem a colocação dos portais, pois só é possível ter 2 abertos ao mesmo tempo, e é necessário usá-los de forma inteligente, utilizando-os para ganhar impulso e chegar em locais mais altos, por exemplo.
Controles básicos:
Botão esquerdo do mouse: abre um portal
AWD: movimenta o personagem
Q: abre um portal azul
E: abre um portal amarelo
R: fecha todos os portais
